The Theatre at Resorts World

Las Vegas, Nevada

A Brief Background on the Theater

The summer of 2012 was an exciting time for Las Vegas, as the brand new Resorts World hotel and casino opened its doors on the Strip. After over a decade without any new resorts, this glitzy addition was a big deal. The property boasted lavish accommodations, dozens of restaurants, an expansive casino floor, and a state-of-the-art theater perfect for A-list concerts and residencies.

AEG Presents and Resorts World partnered up to develop this 5,000-seat venue, later handing operations over to Concerts West. They aimed high, booking Celine Dion as the theater’s first headliner. Her fans awaited the November debut concert eagerly. Unfortunately, with just weeks to go, Celine had to cancel for health reasons. It was a disappointing setback after so much hype and anticipation.

With the opening night postponed, the theater finally welcomed its first audience on December 1st instead, as country star Carrie Underwood took the stage. Since then, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan have brought their respective residencies to the sleek new space. It seems to have quickly become one of the hottest destinations in Vegas for live entertainment. A decade’s wait ended up being well worth it for this world-class concert experience right on The Strip.

The Technical Details

The 5,000-seat theater was designed by the renowned Scéno Plus firm. It featured one of the largest stages on the Las Vegas Strip, spanning 13,550 square feet and measuring 64 feet deep by 196 feet wide. The massive proscenium opening towered 50 feet tall and stretched 123 feet across. The stage also boasted a 576-square-foot lift capable of holding over 86,000 pounds, as well as nearly 5,000 square feet of customizable LED screens.
