Raggae Rise Up

Las Vegas, Nevada

A Brief Overview of the Reggae Rise Up Festival

Reggae Rise Up started as a humble one-day affair back in 2015, when founder Vaughn Carrick brought his love for reggae music to the city of Tampa, Florida. Carrick, whose company Live Nite Events had already been staging reggae festivals in his home state of Utah since 2010, saw an opportunity to fill a void in the Sunshine State’s reggae scene. “I felt there was a void there in the reggae world and thought we could fill that,” he explained.

The event quickly outgrew its initial venue, and in 2016, Reggae Rise Up found a new home at the picturesque Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg, situated right on the water. Since its inception, the festival has grown from a 2-day weekend event into a 4-day celebration with a crowd that ranges from 10-15,000 reggae lovers. At the event, they get to enjoy the biggest and brightest of reggae music on multiple stages alongside several beverage stations, interactive activities, and art installations.

Reggae Rise Up’s success on the East Coast was undeniable, and Carrick decided to take his creation to the other side of the country. In October 2021, the inaugural Reggae Rise Up Las Vegas festival took place at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, bringing the same infectious reggae vibes to the heart of the Nevada desert. What started as a modest one-day event in Florida had blossomed into a multi-city, multi-day celebration of reggae music and culture.

The first Reggae Rise Up festival’s concert in Las Vegas will be taking place on the 5th of April at the Backstage Bar & Billiards.
