Established by Rehan Choudhry in 2013, Life is Beautiful is an annual festival that takes place in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. As reported by WWD, “the festival has focused on cultivating a brand that brings people together through diverse artistic experiences, from music to street art by talents like Shepard Fairey, immersive brand activations, local businesses, culinary delights, and more.” In February 2022, Penske Media Corporation (PMC), through its subsidiary Rolling Stone, acquired a majority stake in the festival, paving the way for potential international expansion plans.
The Life is Beautiful Music & Art Festival is not just about music because it also places a strong emphasis on art, providing attendees with an experience to remember. The festival features massive murals, interactive sculpture exhibits created by local and international artists, and recycled installations from the renowned Burning Man event.
In 2017, the art collective Meow Wolf created the fan-favorite “Art Motel,” transforming an abandoned motel at 225 North Seventh Street into a digital wonderland of art, complete with custom-made sound, lighting, and projections. The collective revamped 17 rooms and the 5,900-square-foot courtyard, creating a truly unique and captivating experience.
While the Art Motel did not return in 2018, the space was transformed into a new exhibit by Portuguese artist Bordalo. This installation focused on collecting and arranging 10,000 feet of recycled trash, which was then used to create six enormous animal structures, aptly named “Wild Wild Waste.”
Extending beyond its musical and artistic showcases, Life is Beautiful Festival introduced the Ideas series in 2015, aimed at disseminating uplifting and motivational messages to attendees.Â
