Michael Jackson: ONE is a Cirque du Soleil production that really aims to capture the essence of Michael Jackson’s music and performance style. The show follows four characters who each represent different aspects of Jackson’s persona, like his agility, courage, playfulness, and love.  

In the beginning, these characters find some of Jackson’s most iconic costume pieces – his magical glittering glove, fedora hat, flashy sunglasses, and classic white socks with black shoes. When each character interacts with these items, they suddenly gain Jackson’s talents and confidence, transforming into empowered performers right before our eyes.

One unlikely character gains amazing balance wearing Jackson’s shoes, wowing the crowd as he pulls off acrobatics while “Bad” blasts through the theater. A shy girl who lacks confidence discovers her inner star when she puts on Jackson’s sunglasses – she practically springs to life, showing off martial arts spin kicks and dance moves during “2000 Watts.” Another gains Jackson’s smooth style and moonwalking skills when he wears the fedora hat during “Smile.” A playful jokester channels his inner illusionist, entertaining the audience with magic tricks wearing Jackson’s dramatic glove. 

By the end, the four individuals seem to be fully channeling Michael Jackson’s spirit. Using his music and costuming, they discover their own talents and learn to shine bright in the spotlight. You can say the show sends a really uplifting message about how anyone can tap into their inner magic with creativity, courage, and confidence.

The show lines up some of MJ’s greatest hits for its production, including classic records such as Beat It, Smooth Criminal, Bad, Stranger in Moscow, Wanna Be Startin’ Something, and so many more.
